Ancient Roman Celtic Bronze Ring w/ Concentric SPIRALS

STOCK #: RP071112-05RS
CULTURE: Romano Celtic (Roman Provincial)
DATE: c. 200 B.C. - 200 A.D.
MATERIAL(S): Bronze
DIMENSIONS: Inner Diameter ~ 19.1 mm (0.75”); US Size 9 1/8; UK Size S
(Note: In typical ancient fashion, this ring is very slightly oval in shape. Thus sizing, which is based on circular rings is only an approximation.)
CONDITION: Solid, intact and totally wearable. Neither restoration, cleaning nor repair, as seen.

COMMENTS: A detailed ancient ring with a raised oval bezel. The bezel face features an extremely desirable geometric design of concentric "figure eight" spirals while the bezel edges have a hatched pattern. Such spiral designs might indicate both Celtic as well as Roman influences in the manufacture of this ring. The meaning of the designs on this ring is unclear but is likely of religious, spiritual or magical significance although it might be purely decorative. Regardless this ring is a solid, wearable and authentic ancient example of the jeweller’s craft. Patina is consistent with age and origin.

PROVENANCE: From an American dealer. Full details will be provided to the purchaser.

*Prices in USD and item is guaranteed authentic. Please see our Sales Policy and AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEE for full details.
